Rycroft High Rise Residents Association

On Saturday 12th May we held in conjunction with the Rycroft Green Social group a fundraising event for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The event started with a couple of stalls and games and was followed by an afternoon tea and then in the evening of prize bingo session.

All the prizes for this and the raffle had been donated by residents and families and the meal put together by residents. We also had support from  Warburtons Bread, Morrison’s and Leeds Rhino`s who gave two match tickets. We would like to also thank the residents from the Claremont at Pudsey  through Denis`s help added almost £50 to the total raised which finished up at £53o.30p making it our best effort yes We must all so a big thank you to all our residents who always get behind these efforts

As well as raising funds for our own use we like to try and help one other cause and this year working with he Social group at Rycroft Green we are making an effort for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with an event on the 12th May at the Green consisting of an afternoon tea followed by Bingo at 6-30pm. We have already started on this and are in possession of key rings,badges pens & pencils plus car stickers in exchange for a donation.

We are also collecting plastic milk bottle  tops to help a local charity raising money to buy wheelchairs for those in need. We are also collecting unwanted clothes which we can sell on and raise funds our share goes to the garden fund.

We brough what as been a very busy year to an end with a very popular day out a trip to Skipton market. On  a very cold windy day we managed to have a very good day at a very good market and followed this up with a meal for everyone at Harry Ramsden’s Chippy and been on 3rd of December we where one of the last groups there before they closed it down and to make everyone feel better as we had found a sponsor for the event everyone got both bus fare and meals cast repaid to them so it really was a Christmas gift.     This was followed by a Christmas dinner for the residents of our sheltered housing scheme Rycroft Green and then a Party for them both laid on by the social group at the Green then we had a party on New Years Eve to round off the year.

On Thursday 20th October; , My self , my wife Christine and Lloyd Fawcett attended a presentation night at the Corn Mill Hotel for West North West Homes Gold Award Scheme.

A good night was had by all with goody bags for each table and a nice Buffett. The evening was compared by Andrew Roddison from Morrison, who introduced a series of speakers who spoke about the activities during the year.Then came the presentations. We had a good night and we had a good evening coming away with two awards. The first award was for our involvement within the community the award stated that we had worked with the local Pcso’s, with the Espirit Gym Club, and with the local kids brought along by Mick Cox, our local PCSO, who has put in raised beds, so the more senior residents can take part in work on the garden.The second award was the Good Governance award, we where the   only group to get all three sections of this award and part of this was because we had four members taking part in the training and in involvement in the Tenants Inspections work with West North West.
